Does it touch the usage included in my Claude plan?

No. The caps act only while your account is in extra usage. Usage included in your plan is never counted against a cap and never blocked: if you are in plan, the guard does nothing at all.

Why does this matter more since July 7?

Since July 7, 2026, Fable 5 is no longer included in Claude plan limits: every Fable 5 prompt bills usage credits. Anthropic offers one spending cap, applied monthly. tokenkarma caps the Claude Code spend per session, per day or per week, and blocks the prompt before it spends.

The daily gesture

You start a project, you type /tokenkarma 20, you work. That is the whole workflow. The command is answered locally by the guard: zero tokens, instant. Agents can run all night; the session stops at your number, whether you are watching or not.

It matters most when you are not looking. An agent loop does not pause to ask if you meant it; a cap you set in two seconds is the difference between "that run cost $20" and finding out from the invoice.

What happens at the limit

The next prompt is blocked before it spends a cent, with the message "Re-send the same prompt to continue". Send the same prompt again within 5 minutes and it goes through, because repeating yourself is explicit consent (you then get a 30-minute grace window). Walk away instead, and the money you did not spend is measured and credited: that is the "1 block today" line in the panel.

Hard enough to stop accidents, soft enough to never block a deliberate decision.
